What does Alitheia mean and how is it pronounced?
While the word has several pronunciations, the members of the band refer to themselves as 'uh-lith-ee-uh'. While more commonly used in the Greek language to mean 'truth', its etymology comes from the Greek 'a' (meaning 'not') and 'lethe' (meaning 'forget'). Lethe happens to be one of five rivers, The River of Forgetting, that surrounds the Underworld Hades in Greek myth

When did the band form?
Alitheia officially formed in the summer of 2001 in Miami, FL when Alfredo, along with Raul and Rick (previously of Savannah Fuma), decided to jumpstart a band. Xavier, formerly of Prayer, joined in the spring 2006.

Who writes the music?
All members contribute. Songs can come about in numerous ways like say, via an abstract idea that's carefully woked on, a riff that's created outside rehersals and then layered onto during, or by way of a spontaneous jam. 

What does Chthonick mean?
The Greek 'kthonios' stands for 'of the earth'. 'Chthonic' is also a term used in the field of psychology which refers to the "primitive, instinctual, unconscious aspect of self that is both examined in pursuit of, as well as houses, a personal evolution." (from the Chthonick album) 

What do the songs mean?
Every song describes a quest to find oneself through different avenues. Depending on how one chooses to look at them, they represent either some external journey, internal transformation, or both.
